Family Weekend

I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!  Here in the Northeast, we had some lovely, warm weather which was very welcome after about a week of rain.  When we woke to the sun shining brightly on Monday, we decided to head to our favorite farm for our annual Strawberry picking event.

Ever since I was a little girl, I have gone strawberry picking each and every May/June.  My Mom took me, and I now take my girls.

We got there right when the farm opened, so it wasn't crowded, nor was it too hot.
The berries were ripe and beautiful where ever we went - so within an hour we had picked enough strawberries for an army!  Really - we ended up with about 22lbs. of strawberries!
We grabbed a few peas as well...
And picked up a few hanging flowers for our yard....

And the best part was the taste test on the ride home!
So, you may ask - what in the world do you do with over 20 pounds of strawberries?!?!  Well, it's only Tuesday and 3/4 of them are spoken for.....

Some in JAM...
(I'll spare you the image of the mess I made as a result of me putting too much into one pot and having it boil over on me...I promise you, it wasn't pretty!)

Some in STRAWBERRY BREAD.....

And a huge bag has been frozen for smoothies and other summer delights to last for the year.

And I still have about a pound that is being picked at in it's natural "just picked" state by everyone in the family.
YUM!
