A Peek at Handmade Inside the Sewplicity household

I thought I'd give you a peek of some of my handmade craftiness found around my house - some of which you have seen before, some of which you have not.

Here is a chair cushion that I recovered a long time ago (pre kids).  I hadn't sewn in years when I decided to take on this project, but it came out wonderfully.  There is a zipper in the back to make cleaning easy.

A few weeks ago I replaced my countertop drain tray with this hanging one from Ikea.  I made the mat underneath to catch any drips that escape.  It also works well for letting the utensils dry.  It is made from an old curtain and inside is some absorbant wool felt.

Here is my 4 yr old's bed.  I made the pillowcase for her (she loves pink) but I cannot take credit for the beautiful quilt.  My Mom made that.  She is a talented quilter and makes them for everyone in the family.  I think I have about 6 of them in my house!  I love quilts, but honestly don't have the patience to make them.  I leave it to my Mom.

I keep this fabric basket on top of the old vitrolla.  It holds mints for whomever walks in/out my door.  I featured this on my blog before HERE with a link to the tutorial to make it.

I of course need to have a high chair cover in my house!  My youngest is now two so she has graduated into a booster seat.  This cover was specially made to fit the Fisher Price Space Saver chair without the back.  She loves being comfy in her seat and I love that I can throw it in the washer after a messy meal!

My bathroom!  This is my basement bathroom and it has finally started to feel a bit more "homey" since I've added some decoration.  Decorating has been slow since the remodel.  The tissue box cover, towels and wall hanging are all made by me.  The wall decoration is one of those peel and stick deals.  I love it!  I still want to pull a bit more of that burn orange in, I've been looking for a print but haven't found one yet.   I have one other thing that I hope to be adding in here but it's a secret - look for it in an upcoming Scrappy Saturday project!

My side door is a metal one with a large window.  For the longest time I didn't have anything up there because I didn't want to screw into the metal, but they make magnetic curtain rods!  So, here is my fix.  I love that the curtain lets just enough light in while offering privacy.

And that's it ... I love the feeling that handmade decor adds to a home, but I try to keep a nice balance where it isn't overwhelming.  I hope you enjoyed a peek into my home.
