This pattern is from Frog Legs and Ponytails. I just adore Mindy Leone’s patterns – such adorable stuff for little girls!
I’ve actually had this pattern sitting in my files for quite some time now, but the cooler weather motivated me to pull it out and give it a try. My daughter just loves new clothing and this was the perfect “back to school” project.
The pictures shown here show the vest without any sort of closure – it really doesn’t need any but I did order some wooden barrel buttons but am still waiting for them to arrive. I just couldn’t resist taking the photos when my daughter put it on, so here it is without the buttons!
Difficulty Level:
Easy. This pattern is pretty straight forward and easy enough for any level. I do recommend reading the instructions thoroughly before cutting – you will need to do some measuring for the lining pieces.
What I Loved:
This pattern was well written and easy to follow. I love that I finished it in a few hours!
What I Didn’t Love:
Nothing really. I loved the pattern so much I will be making another for my 2 yr. old.
Suggested Changes:
This is not really a change since the pattern gives you the option of quilting the vest. But if you have a quilting foot I highly recommend it – it gives the vest a nice finished look. I opted to make two horizontal quilting stitches along the entire vest. 5.5” from the top and 5.5” from the bottom. You can see them in the picture.
Would I Recommend It?
Absolutely! This was a very satisfying project. I love the way it came out and so did my daughter.
