TUTORIAL: Powder Puff

It’s Scrappy Saturday again!  OK Ladies, this week’s project is going to give you a tiny reason to smile each morning when you open up your makeup case….a powder puff!  Yup, I decided to make this my project because I got sick of looking at this…..

every morning.  “So why didn’t you just buy a new puff?” you may ask…..well, I have….you know those packs of 3 that you can get at any drug store….but guess what – they just didn’t fit properly.  They were either too big (so the top wouldn’t screw on right) or too small where the powder covered the entire puff front and back (what a mess).  So, I had been living with the original beat-up, falling apart puff until the light bulb went off in my head the other day…..What took me so long to figure out that I could easily make one of these puffs?!

So, with a little measuring, some fabric scraps, some soft minky here is my replacement….

And while I was at it I made a few more for use later….

It works wonderfully and it really does make me smile when I open my powder to see my little hand-made puff!

Ready to make one?  You can download and/or print the tutorial <<HERE>>

  1. these are so cute! :) just wondering, do you think I could use velvet or felt instead of that minky stuff? i know you can use fleece, but i'm just wondering if i could use the other fabrics. great tutorial!

  2. Thanks! You can probably use either...just try out the fabric before you sew it...that's what I did and decided on the minky. Any type of soft fabric that can trap the powder should work well. Let me know if you try it and how it works out!
