If you are like me, you have a few people that you've waited up until now to get a Christmas gift. I always say I'm not going to do it, but somehow life gets in the way and here I am 4 days before Christmas and a handful of gifts to go.
When I first got out of college, I was a Pre-K teacher and each holiday season I received the same things....Teacher ornaments, "World's Greatest Teacher" Mugs, Keychains, etc. And although I appreciated these gifts, after several years my tree and cupboard were over-run with "Teacher" items.
So, as a Mom who has children in school I try to get a little creative with the gifts. Last year I made A LOT of homemade cookies. Each teacher received a nice package of yummy goods to enjoy. This year, given my sewing addiction, I decided to make each teacher a hand-made fabric basket filled with mouth-watering Lindt chocolate truffles.
I had 6 teachers to make these for, so it did take me several hours, but if you only have one or two, you can have this little project finished in about an hour or so. Best part, the fabric pieces used are small - this is a great way to use up some of your fabric stash.
You can use this tutorial from Orange Flower Designs to make the basket. And you can read my tutorial review here.
After you make the basket, simply purchase some yummy goodies to put inside and there you have it - a wonderfully thoughtful gift filled with love!
