Quick Tip - Achieving the perfect corner

Have you ever struggled to get a nice "turn" on a corner piece of fabric? Think handle straps, dress straps and corners. It's actually not that difficult to get that perfect corner if you follow these tips.

> Don't sew a sharp point in the fabric, instead make the stitch more of a rounded turn using a few stitches across to achieve it. This will allow more room for the seam allowance.

> Trim the seam allowance diagonally across the corner of the fabric as close to the seam as possible (being careful not to cut through the stitching). This removes the bulk when turned and allows the fabric to lay flat.


> Use a turning tool to push out the the fabric until you achieve the perfect corner.

> Don't rush out to purchase a turning tool....I can guarantee you have something in your house that will work perfectly as one. I use the eraser end of a pencil for larger corners and a chopstick for the tiny ones. It works like a charm!

No matter how tempted you may be, don't use scissors! The sharp point may pierce your fabric and then you will be back at square one.
