Why Blog?

I've decided to take the plunge! I've wanted to blog for a while now, but wasn't quite sure of what to blog about...until recently...you see, I'm a stay at home Mom of two beautiful little girls. I love my girls more than anything, but for the past year I have been searching for something that I could do just for me. My husband has always had baseball and golf, but I really haven't had a passion like that to escape to for "me" time. And believe me, with two tiny ones (three and 6 months) I'm finding that it is very important to have some alone time.

A few months back, I was in my basement hunting for one of the kids toys when I came across my old, forgotten sewing machine. The case was covered in dust so I pulled it out to clean when the light bulb went off. After I had graduated from college, I was living up in Seneca Falls NY, and since I didn't have a full time job yet, I had a lot of free time on my hands. I had bought a sewing machine to pass the time, and really got into it. I made little fun stuff, and eventually started making some simple clothing items. It was lots of fun! Well, I brought the machine upstairs, cleaned it off and put it in my dining room.

For a few days I let it sit there, and for each day it sat, the excitement grew. I couldn't wait to get started...but what should I make? Actually, after a little thought, that wasn't too difficult to figure out. For a while I've been on the hunt for the perfect diaper/handbag. I love pocketbooks, and I have quite a collection of them....unfortunately, pocketbooks aren't too much of an everyday option with 2 little kids. Diaper bags and big, bulky totes are more the reality. So instead of spending the $60 on the fasionable Vera Bradley bags that many Moms are carrying around these days, I decided to create my own!

I soon found myself totally engulfed in finding the perfect pattern, coordinating fabrics, and brusing up on my sewing terminology and techniques. I LOVED every second of it! I have since created a few different bags, a cape for my daughter and have mended a bunch of items around the house!

Since I started sewing again,I have been all over the web and have found so many interesting and useful sites. I now want to share my renewed passion for sewing through this blog.

My goal is to create a place for beginner/intermediate sewers to come to find tips and techniques to help them with their projects. I plan on covering sewing terminology, explanations of sewing tools, as well as provide different sewing techniques and offer detailed tutorials.

Wow...i have lots to do. I hope you'll stay with me....here we go!
