Project Re-Organization

WHEW!  It's been a super busy week.  My children finished out the school year, we've been attending many, many end-of-year events and soaking up the sun at the pool in our spare time.  Why I decided to take on re-organizing my studio, I really don't know....well, actually I just couldn't stand the mess any more, so in short blocks of time throughout the week I took on the challenge.

I wanted to share my results....

First, I dumped everything on my fabric shelves onto the floor so I could start from scratch.  That was an ugly site.  Unfortunately I only took one picture with my iphone during the process because I really wasn't thinking about posting about it....but here is the mess I made....

This only shows a portion of the mess....I had bolts of fabric stacked up to the right and stuff strewn all about.  One of the necessary evils of doing a complete re-org!

I originally had two white bookcases on one wall....the photo below was taken a while back when I did a studio tour for A Happy Stitch.

I decided to move the bookcase on the right over into the back left hand corner....

I also added a shelf back in so I could neatly store my large fabric remnants.  Unfortunately by doing this, I had bolts of fabric that didn't have a home....sooooo...I picked up another white bookcase!

Oh the difference this added storage makes!  Best part, the bookshelf was only $33 at Target.
This added space not only for fabric, but for my books and other random items.
Here is the entire wall now:

This extra bookshelf also allowed me to re-organize the shelves by my computer desk which always drive me mad....now they are nice and neat!

And I even got to clean off the top of my computer desk which was piled up with paperwork...

Ohhhhh...so nice!

Finally, I was able to clean up that area that I showed you in the first picture....

My desk where I keep my prepped orders and my ironing area is neat and tidy.  Yes, my kids were watching Pocoyo while I snapped my photos!

And now I can sew myself silly in a more organized space.

It is truly amazing how a clean creative space can inspire you.  I hope I can keep it this way for a while!
