Homemade Granola (with Label Download)

Here in NJ, we are in our last week of school.  I have to admit, I'm ready for summer break!  I'm looking forward to a relaxed schedule and not having to be anywhere at a specific time.  But, that is still a week away, and this week is actually quite busy with end of year events and graduations....I have also been busy with teacher gifts.

I always like to give something that the teachers will appreciate and use.  Typically, my gifts are homemade.  In the past I have given Jam, Vanilla Extract, Fabric Baskets and Coffee Cozies.  This year is no different.  I decided on Homemade GRANOLA!

YUM!  Good granola is one of those items that is hard to find...and when you do find it, it costs an arm and a leg.  By making it yourself, you can customize it to your liking.  Adjust the ingredients and sweetness to suit you, and save a whole lot of money!

For this batch, I used Alton Brown's recipe with some minor alterations.  I used gluten free oats (several of the recipients are gluten intolerant), used cranberries instead of raisins, unsweetened coconut instead of sweetend and added a touch of agave syrup.

To dress up the gift, I put the granola in these wonderful Bormioli Rocco Fido Latch Jars and tied a label to them with some raffia.

I made the labels in Photoshop....they are two sided - one side provides the ingredients list.

If you are interested, I'm happy to share my labels with you.  You can find the FRONT HERE and the BACK HERE.

And of course, I saved some for myself!

  1. Hi Jennifer - I have just started reading your blog and admire your creations :) You are a busy lady and must have a lot of energy! I appreciate you sharing your ideas. Just a note - in case you hadn't yet noticed it - there is a typo on the back of your label. I'm guessing you meant for it to say Ingredients, but the second 'n' is missing.
    Best wishes,
    Anna

Thank you for pointing that out! I will fix it and get an updated version posted soon. I'm away from my regular computer so it will be a day or two, but do check back later this week to download the updated labels.

    Thanks for following!
