Deck The Halls!

This weekend we dug out all of our Christmas CDs, pulled out all of our Christmas boxes from the attic and got to work!

Decorating the tree is my favorite part because the kids have so much fun looking at each ornament.  Since the majority of our ornaments were purchased to celebrate an event, or to remember a time/event, or made by us our a family member, it makes it even more special because each ornament has a story!
I look at the picture above and can't believe how big my oldest daughter is getting!
Of course we enjoy our fair share of regular round ball ornaments as well!
On my mantel sits these two Nutcrackers which I've had close to 20 years.  I LOVE these guys, I'm not sure why, but I really do.
And this year I FINALLY got around to making the quilted stockings that I have been admiring from Meringue Designs for about 2 years.  I feel sooooooo good about this!

And when everything is decorated, and the boxes are put away, we turn off all the lights and just enjoy the season.

NOTE ON PHOTOGRAPHY:  It can be difficult to get a good picture of your tree, so here is how I captured the photo above....You need to use your camera in MANUAL mode. Turn the flash off and set your camera on a tri-pod.  This is VERY important!  Set your ISO to 200, set a low aperture - I used f/16 here, and use a very long shutter speed (I used 5 seconds).  The slow shutter is why you need the tri-pod!   If you can, use a timer or remote to take the photo which will eliminate camera shake.

Happy Holidays!
