PATTERN REVIEW: Popover Dress

Given the last attempt at doing a review on a dress tutorial (and the fact that I have 2 little girls that require dressing), I made another, different dress which I am happy to say, I CAN write up a review for!  Yeah!

This dress is from Oliver + S.  This company sells many contemporary, adorable children's' clothing patterns - this one is one of their freebies.  Lucky us!  You can find it HERE

Given the reputation of this company and the simplicity of the dress, I was expecting an easy sew.  I got exactly what I was expecting.

The design is so simple, I almost felt guilty printing out the pattern, but I wanted to do it right, so print I did. The dress comes in sizes 2-8.

I love that this dress will allow you to play around and make it your own....add some trim, add a ruffle or bottom band...Make it as simple or as complicated as you like.  I used one of those fun quilting stitches on my machine that rarely get used....
Add a cute stitch design
The tie straps make for a simple closure - no dealing with zippers, elastic or buttons.....
The neck yoke lets you add a coordinated fabric (I used a greenish linen).

Best of all, this sews up quickly and easily.  The directions are clear and short.  If you need some inspiration, check out the Oliver + S flickr pool - lots of creative folks post their pics there.

I would absolutely recommend this pattern to any level sewer!  Go ahead - give it a try!

I used newly released Indian Summer Dot in Cream by Riley Blake for the main fabric.
