Our vacation may be over, but the memories will last forever! My family headed up to the Pocono Mountains for a relaxing getaway this past week. We rented a nice townhouse in a quiet community and although the weather wasn't perfect, it didn't stop us from having a wonderful time.
Almost every day we spent time at the local lake club where the girls played in the water and dug in the sand. I did not - it was a bit too cold for my taste, but kids didn't really care.
We threw in a few day trips as well - one to a small animal reserve where the girls got to feed some crazy lemurs.....
And we stopped at this candy store which had barrels and barrels of candy which you could mix and match any way you like.....the girls were beyond amazed and excited about this place!
On the last day, I dropped my family off at the lake while I took a 15 minute drive to a quaint little quilting store where I took my time browsing all the fabrics. Since I have nothing that comes close to a true quilt shop like this one near my home, I thoroughly enjoyed browsing around and talking to the shop owner MaryAnn, who opened the shop 23 years ago!
The store was small, but jam packed with bolts and bolts of quilting fabric....it consisted of mostly batiks, blenders and novelty fabrics and it had a charm that only a true crafter/quilter could create. Some day I hope to open a shop similar to this one with tons of more modern quilting fabrics.....
If you are in the Poconos, be sure to stop by The Country Quilterie in Effort, PA for a look around. They even offer some sewing classes!!
So that was my week.....while I will miss the carefree schedule of vacation, I am looking forward to getting back to work. I've missed my sewing machine, and I think it missed me too!
