Tutorial Link: Reversible Sling Chair

I can’t tell you how excited I am about this project!  Let me first tell you that it wasn’t my idea.  I have to give props to CityCraft for this one.  Ever since I saw this tutorial a few months back I knew I wanted to do it.  You can find the tutorial by CityCraft HERE
Although I followed the basic guidelines in CityCraft’s tutorial, I made some modifications.  First, I used children’s sling chairs.  My kids are starting to outgrow their mini papasans and need something a bit larger.  I thought these chairs would make an excellent Christmas present for them.  (Ok, the holidays are a bit away yet, but when you are making handmade you need to get a head start!)
I started with purchasing these kid sling chairs from JC Penney where I found them on sale!  Yeah!  Hopefully the chairs are still available for you – but this is such an easy project you can easily adjust the measurements to fit any sling chair!
The next modification I made was to use a mid-weight interfacing on both the front and back pieces of fabric.  I just like the feel of the strengthened fabric.
I also decided to place low-loft batting in-between the fabrics.  It just gives the chair a bit more “cushion”.

And that’s about it!  The outcome is better than I hoped for.  My girls are going to be so excited!
For reference, you will need to cut the fabric to 33” x 14” for the children’s chairs.  I used 1/2” seam allowances and used the original chair fabric as a guide for folding over the top and bottom by placing them side by side when pinning.
Thanks for visiting!
