Saving Time and Frustration- Pattern Tips & Techniques

Do you have a pattern that you use over and over? I know I have several. I found that after a few uses, the thin pattern material becomes ripped, teared, wrinkled and more and more difficult to work with. The solution? Get yourself some cheap posterboard at Walmart, Target or local craft store and copy the pattern onto it. Cut out the pattern and now you can use it over and over to trace onto your fabric using a fabric pencil. I've found that it's easier to cut fabric if it is drawn on the fabric rather than pinning and cutting around the pattern pieces.

Another idea, if you have a pattern that you don't plan on using over and over, but hate the time it takes to pin all the pieces to the fabric, invest in pattern weights. These little guys are a wonderful time saver. You can pick these up on Amazon, or a sewing store. If you don't feel like paying money, you can get creative and use regular household items (canned goods, plates, glasses, knick-knacks, whatever works).
