Birthday Indulgence

Yesterday was my birthday...and while I think I have surpassed the point where birthdays are something to look forward to, I celebrate for my kids.  They LOVE birthdays!  So, to celebrate I decided to bake up a sweet treat worthy of a celebration.  Forget clean eating, forget avoiding sugar, forget everything I base my food choices on - celebrations call for indulgence.  And let me tell you, THIS, my friends, is the definition of indulgence!

Ok, it may just look like a gooey brownie, but I'll let you in a little secret....see those tiny eggs, those are my all time favorite candy of all time.

These sweet, creamy, richly amazing chocolate morsels are (and have been since they were introduced) are my weakness.  Do you know what they are?

CADBURY MINI EGGS

Thankfully they only come out for a few months every year around Easter, which probably adds to their deliciousness.  And each year I allow myself to purchase ONE, yes, just ONE full size bag.  Once that bag is gone, there is no more until the next year.  Usually I will make this bag last a couple of months, savoring each tiny egg for everything it's worth.

This year I decided to go crazy and use up about 1/3 of the bag to make these delectable brownies...

These brownies were topped and baked with 1 cup of THIS:

And let me tell you, it was heavenly.  I have to admit this was the richest brownie I have ever eaten...so rich I couldn't even finish one (and that is truly rich).

But I enjoyed every single bite and have frozen the batch in tiny squares for random treats when desperately needed.

So, if you are looking for a decadent, rich, sweet, and indulgent dessert, and you are a Cadbury Mini Egg lover like me, you should give these a try.

I found the recipe over at Bakeaholic Mama.  Go on...you don't have much time before these eggs disappear from the shelves until 2015!

Enjoy,
