A Step Back in Time - Vintage Inspiration

I'll be honest, I've been in a bit of a sewing slump the last week or so.  Does that ever happen to you?  It's very frustrating - especially when I make a living from it, but I suppose that is also why I have fallen off track too.  As much as I LOVE sewing, when it is your JOB, it can get a little mundane every now and again.  

So...what do I do when I have one of these slumps?  I take a tiny break and find my creative energy elsewhere.  For me, that usually is photography.  If you weren't aware, I am an avid photographer.  I picked it up because of my sewing business and just can't get enough!  If interested, you can visit my photography website HERE.  If interested in my florals, do visit my Etsy Shop HERE. 

So...remember that awesome vintage suitcase I received a few weeks ago?  Not only was the wonderful fabric an inspiration for sewing, but the suitcase itself inspired me to plan a vintage photo shoot with my girls!  

Thankfully I have two willing daughters who enjoy my click-happy hobby as well.  They aren't always cooperative, but I have to say, even they enjoyed this little step back in history and role-played the entire time!

I scored both of these coats on eBay for around $20.00 each.  Both coats were in perfect condition and just right for my vintage shoot!  

And how awesome is that suitcase?  The perfect prop for this shot, don't you think?

Oh, and are you wondering about those adorable hats?  These came from the amazing Etsy seller, Pumpkin Pie Creations.   

 I asked her to make me matching hats for the girls with coordinating colors.  They are so gorgeous...if you are in need of a winter hat, you should stop by her shop.
