TIP: Recycled Paper for Patterns

Do you ever make your own patterns?  Well, if you do, you don't need to spend your money on pattern or tracing paper....use what you have around the house...

My favorite (and free) pattern paper comes crumpled up by the yards in packages delivered right to my house!
This stuff is used by many different companies to pad boxes and protect items that are shipped.  It's lightweight and oh so perfect for making patterns!

My favorite paper comes from Amazon.com.  Why?  Because it's actually perforated every 10" or so, which makes for perfect straight lines without the cutting.  It also tends to be crumpled is super long lengths, I've had pieces longer than 4 yards which is perfect for pattern making.
Whenever I get a package with this paper, I simply smooth out the wrinkles as best as possible and fold it up to store until I need it.
The best part is, if I mess up, it's no big deal because I have a ton more of it, and it didn't cost me a thing!

Save that paper folks!   And if you don't have any of this stuff around, consider using paper bags, they work just as well.

  1. Recycling benefits the environment and you, mentally, physically, and financially. It doesn't take long to do and doesn't cost you extra. All you need to do is invest the time and see the benefits.
