I'm pretty sure that there is a presser foot for just about anything. If you have been following me for some time, you may remember my post on how to do a freehand buttonhole back from 2009. Back then I was not aware that a presser foot actually exists to help in this task.
Introducing the Janome "B" foot. I love this little guy.
This foot is designed to ensure that your long, freehand buttonholes are as straight as a pin and evenly spaced. How? Well, first, the entire foot is transparent. How wonderful to be able to see your markings! Also, it has a small ridge straight down the center. This ridge helps guide your first line of zigzag stitches then sticks close to those on the way back to help keep the second line spaced nicely and straight.
You can see what I mean here:
See the little plastic line in the center of the foot? That is actually a ridge that sticks out below the foot helping to guide your stitches. AWESOME!
Then end product? A perfect buttonhole in any length!
I'm not sure if this foot is available for all machine makes, but I've seen it for Janome & Elna. If you need to make long freehand buttonholes, this is worth the $7.00 investment!
