TUTORIAL: Embroidered Door Sign

Here is a fun and easy way to decorate your front door (or wall).   This works well for embroidery machines, but if you don't have one, no worries....just find some fun fabric and use it....

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
> Embroidery Hoop (wood or plastic)
> Craft Glue
> Fabric (embroidered or not)
> Ribbon, Raffia or anything to create a tie
(Continued after the jump)

Trace the outer hoop around the design.

Remove the hoop and cut about 1" around that marking

Place the fabric into the hoop (screw on top) and tighten making sure that the fabric is nice and taught

Put some craft glue on the inside edge of the inner hoop and press the excess fabric
around the edge (be careful not to let the glue soak into the front of the fabric)

I probably could have trimmed the excess fabric a bit...but nobody will see this!
Add ribbon, raffia or any type of tie to the screw so you can hang the sign

And there you have it....a fun sign for your door that can change with the season....

Or, if you don't embroider....
use some fabric paint or have fun and create lots of neat wall art....

  2. I also love the design. Did you use a stablizer and if so, what kind? If not, what should I put on the back with using my embroidery machine? Anything? Thanks!

    1. Hi! Yes, I used stabilizer....since I don't do a lot of embroidery, I don't have too many different kinds of stabilizer to choose from. A medium weight worked just fine for this. Hope that helps!
