I spent almost every weekend of my childhood in the Catskills and I am so thrilled that my girls get to enjoy visiting now. Since we live in the suburbs, they don't really get a chance to immerse themselves in the openness of the country. If you ever get a chance to visit the mountains of New York, here are a few tips....
Take some time to enjoy the serenity of the woods, streams and trees that are in such abundance in the area.
Take in the beauty of the gorgeous flowers and plant life (mix in a little rustic charm)
Head off to a local festival to learn about trees, try your hand at making paper and go for a dip in a stream water filled pool....
Treat yourself to some sweets (a must when visiting grandparents), run freely around a Catskill-sized backyard and eat dinner in an enclosed log-cabin porch.....
And most importantly....Enjoy the wildlife.....
(Ok, so the cat is not wildlife, but he is big and furry enough to be considered so)
We actually saw a black-bear wandering on the neighbor's lawn one evening but by the time I got my camera he was gone....that was REALLY cool! Of course I can say that because we were safely indoors.....
I hope you had a lovely weekend also!
Thanks for sharing your weekend - it does look so calm & peaceful...well, except for the fun with the kids part! lol It's definitely all good. I would have loved to make paper like that when I was a young'un. :D
