Doorstep Organic

I recently received a coupon to try a local organic delivery service.  I've used a similar service a few years ago but just didn't feel that the produce was in great condition by the time it reached my doorstep.  This was a different company, and they were offering 50% off your first order, and no commitment to try them out.  With the price of fresh produce these days, I couldn't pass it up.

Today I was happy to find my delivery on my doorstep when I came home from the gym.  Not expecting too much based on my previous experience, I was pleasantly suprised when I opened the box.....
The fruit was about a few days from being ripe, which is perfect in my opinion

The veges were not wilted or bruised
My only disappointment (albeit small) was the parsley which was a smidge on the wilted side....but it perked up when I put it in a glass of water - I suppose herbs are not as ship-tolerant as the rest.

The best part is that my 5 year old really got into unpacking and checking out the produce because it was so gorgeous!  She even took pride standing at the sink and washing each and every piece.

She is anxiously waiting to bite into one of those peaches!

Based on this shipment, I think I will sign up for a twice a month shipment.  The prices aren't bad - probably no more than what I pay when I go to the grocery store, and I get the benefit of feeding my family organic produce while supporting local farmers.

This particular company even offers co-op options to keep costs down.  If you haven't tried an organic delivery service, it may be worth your while to test one out in your area!
