GIVEAWAY: Side Winder

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED

It's GIVEAWAY time!

How annoying is it when you run out of bobbin thread in the middle of sewing something?  You have to unthread your machine and set it up to wind up a new bobbin, then rethread.  It may not be too time consuming, but who likes to be interrupted with these details when in a sewing groove?

This little machine will prevent you from having to unthread and rethread your machine...  Introducing the SideWinder by Wrights.  This is a portable (battery operated) bobbin winder.  Simply place your spool and bobbin in place, set up the thread and push the little green button.  It's super fast and easy!
And even if you have a machine with a separate bobbin winding motor, you may find that this little machine does a better job of winding your bobbins.   Take a look:

The spool on the left was wound on my Janome, the one on the right with the SideWinder.  The SideWinder completely filled the bobbin up while my Janome left about an 1/8" of space.  This means more sewing time before running out of thread!

One lucky person will win this great little gadget (a $20 value) by simply leaving a comment here on my blog!

  1. Oooo - I'd like this because of that whole sewing groove thing you mentioned, plus my bobbin winder does not engage well.

  3. Yes please! I'm already a Follower. :) I've taken to winding two bobbins (I use a lot of black) so I don't have to stop mid-sewing, but this would be even better! 6ft garment bags take a lot of thread!!

  8. I have wanted 1 of these for the past year. I really dislike using my Janome to wind my bobbins, it gets a one sided.

  10. I would love this because the bobbin winding part of my sewing machine sometimes doesn't want to wind right. I think it may need to be replaced sometime soon. Having a Sidewinder would really help.=)

  11. Why WOULDN'T I want a Sidewinder? My sewing machine winds a bobbin worse than the one you picture in your blog, I'm so unfamiliar with my sewing machine that I have to take the book out each time I have to wind a bobbin, and I'd just love to have it because I want it. How is that? And you know what? I didn't know they were only $20! I might just need to go buy me one. dmj53(at)hotmail(dot)com

  15. My lovely featherweight has problems filling bobbins. At this time, I fill a bunch of bobbins when sewing with other quilters who have a working featherweight bobbin filler. I've tried a friend's Sidewinder and loved it. Thanks for this great giveaway!

  33. I would love to have one of these....you're right, a machine just doesn't wind evenly, no matter how carefully you try! And my machine doesn't stop when the bobbin is full, anyway! That part was broken when I bought my machine - hey, a girl has to pick a bargain when she can (that left more $ for fabric!).

  38. Thanks for this fantastic giveaway. We have two sewing machines that are shared between my mother and I. Neither use the same bobbin. I noticed that the new machine has the same problem that your Janome has (different brand) and it is aggravating. The vintage machine requires complete unthreading to wind a bobbin. So, this sidewinder would really help us keep up with our sharing of machines and winding of bobbins so we can keep sewing on.

  39. I would love to own a sidewinder because of its portability. Having an active 3 yr old son, I can take the sidewinder into any room in the house and work on loading bobbins. I'm trying to find more time to quilt, and this would help "untangle" me from sitting in front of the sewing machine and loading bobbins on the machine. Great choice for giveaway item!
