What to do with the Jeans??? UPCYCLE!

If you are anything like me, somewhere, deep in your closet you have a pile of jeans.  Jeans that don't fit, jeans that you purchased and then decided you didn't like, jeans that are too big, jeans that are out of style....but for whatever reason, you just can't part with them!  Well, I have decided that if I can't get rid of them, I should turn them into something that I can use....after all, it is a waste to have all this denim taking up space in the back of my closet.

So, here are a couple of ideas....

Make a cute case for your electronic device
Denim was the perfect match for my new Gypsy Paisley fabric from Michael Miller!
A snap closure for the flap fit the "denim" theme
It was fun to add some interest to this case with a little applique in the corner
I used my iphone tutorial as the basis for this case.  I just added a pocket and changed the shape of the flap.  I added some top-stitching to keep with the denim look.

Turn your denim into an adorable cap for you or your child

After making my phone case, my daughter asked me to make one for her.  Since she has no use for an electronic case, I thought I would take the opportunity to try out this Eddie Cap tutorial by Mushroom Villagers.
This hat took under an hour to make and the tutorial was quite easy to follow
I love how the fabric just "pops" with the denim!

So don't let your old jeans sit in the back of your closet....give them new life and upcycle them into something that will be used!!!!!

  1. I love denim paired with with that fabric. Denim is great for repurposing, except that it can make a mess with fraying. When I was in high school I took a couple old pairs of jeans and made them into bags by cutting them off at upper thigh, ripping out the inner thigh seams, sewing the fronts, and the backs of the legs together to make a tube, and sewing an oval on to the bottom of the tube. Added a drawstring to the inside of the waistband - worked pretty good! I thought they were cool, and used them instead of a suitcase to take to summer camp.

  2. Yes, the fraying is an issue....I had on light pants when making these - boy was I a mess when finished!
