Tutorial Review - On Pins and Needles Baby Shoes

I've been wanting to try making these soft shoes for my 7 month old. My first daughter lived in Robeez for the first year of her life, unfortunately, I gave away all her old ones, and don't really want to spend the $35 per pair to get new ones for my little one. So, when I saw this tutorial by "On Pins and Needles" I got very excited!

Difficulty Level: Advanced Beginner /Intermediate - These were very simple to construct, the only reason I recommend them for the advanced beginner is due to the pinning around the circular edges...it can get a bit cumbersome. Also, this requires a 1/8" inch seam, which can be difficult for beginners, especially around curves and layers.

Would I recommend it?
YES! Save your money, make your own shoes out of scraps. Very little fabric is needed - you can even use fat quarters (As you can see I used scraps from my Tabitha Tote). I immediately put these on my daughter and they fit perfectly.

TIPS:
I highly recommend using fusible fleece on the upper lining of the shoe to make it a bit more plush. I also suggest picking up some suede (it can be faux) for the soles. I found some on sale at JoAnn's for $4/yd. and 1/2 yd will make a whole lot of shoes.
